XBRL US will hold a webinar that will focus on data quality and corporate disclosures. The webinar will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public, though registration is required.
The SEC requires filings to be submitted in a structured, machine-readable data format because it improves the data’s usefulness, timeliness, and quality, all of which benefits investors, regulators, market participants, and other data consumers. 75% of disclosures reported to the SEC under Securities Act Section 7 and Exchange Act Sections 13 and 14 are submitted in this standardized format. In 2015, XBRL US’ Data Quality Committee created freely available, automatable rules designed to check for errors, greatly helping filers improve the integrity of their XBRL submissions to the SEC. The quality of filings has increased significantly and many of the rules are now built directly into the SEC’s EDGAR system.
The webinar’s speakers will address the following:
- trends in data quality across types of filers and types of disclosures
- common problems encountered in filings
- issuers’ reactions to the availability of the rules
- insights into current and upcoming rulesets and the problems they are designed to address
- ways XBRL -reported data is being used by internal and external audiences
